Chord Electronics, PMC (Professional Loudspeaker Company) and The Chord Company dominate certain categories at annual What Hi-Fi? awards for 'Best Buy' products in 2024.
The prestigious What Hi-Fi? awards are a two-tier affair. Initially the experts at What Hi-Fi? UK magazine designate the product of value in the respective product and price range categories, based on the published reviews, then the nominees are assessed directly against rivals and the 'Best Buys' are elected in the targeted price range. In stage two, the 'Best Buys' compete for the 'Product Of The Year' award in each product category, not basing on price ranges but considering purchase value and performance only.
The What Hi-Fi? magazine 'Best Buy' awards were announced in October and the ' Product Of The Year' (Grands Prix) will be revealed in London at a special ceremony in November.
PMC's (Professional Monitor Company) new Prodigy series fared especially well in loudspeaker 'Best Buys' taking 'Best standmount speaker £1000-£1500' (Prodigy 1) and 'Best floorstanding speaker £1500-£2500' (Prodigy 5) awards for two successive years.
Chord Electronics DACs continue to shatter all imaginable award records. The amazing Chord Qutest wins 'Best DAC over £700' for a 7th year in a row, marking the future-proof and ahead-of-time work of Chord Electronics engineers. The portable wonder of Chord Mojo 2 gets its 3rd consecutive 'Best Buy' award in 'Best DAC £300-£700' price range.
Finally, cable & accessories categories are dominated by solid output from The Chord Company: 'Best interconnect under £100' is Chord Company C-line, 'Best interconnect over £100': Chord Company ClearwayX ARAY and 'Best speaker cable': Chord Company RumourX.
