MBL Akustikgeräte GmbH & Co. KG insolvent, goes into administration

MBL, o private company in Berlin, Germany, known for proprietary loudspeaker technology (radialstrahler, or radial driver, imitating pulsating sphere), went into administration to shield the company from creditor enforcement actions after declaring insolvency on May 27, obviously due to cash flow problems.

The legal process of administration is intended to preserve the valuable assets of MBL, prepare the company for possible sale and ensure coverage of wages due to approximately 50 employees of MBL. Berlin court (AG Charlottenburg) had appointed Frank Brachwitz from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH as licensed insolvency administrator in June 2025, thus allowing MBL to preserve statutory freeze and continue business while restructuring plans are being prepared.

At this moment the administrator together with Mergers & Acquisitions firm Dr Wieselhuber & Partner, and MBL management are initiating restructuring investment for the troubled company which may also mean sale to another party.

MBL was founded by Meletzky, Beinecke and Lehnhardt (no longer associated with the company) in 1979, currently is owned by Christian Hermeling, and manufactures a wide range of high end loudspeakers and audio electronics.
