Both PMC (The Professional Monitor Company, Ltd) and T+A (T+A elektroakustik GmbH & Co. KG) are family-owned audio businesses with a long and famed history. Both have appointed younger family members as new CEO to lead the companies into the future.
T+A is a German hi-fi electronics and speaker manufacturer established in 1978 by Siegfried Amft, a graduate of Leibniz University Hanover. Siegfried Amft stepped down as a CEO in 2025 while continuing to serve as Managing director. His son Conradin Amft now takes the position of CEO. Conradin Amft joined T+A in 2018, he has a degree in BA and had worked for watch and audio industries before that. After joining T+A he was responsible for strategic development including opening of the USA sales office and creating headphone department in R&D and manufacture.
In a published statement Siegfried Amft explained: ‘Over the past few years, Conradin has proven that he is not only part of the family, but also the right successor at the helm of our company.’ He also said that Conradin has given T+A new impetus with ‘vision, courage and a sense of what is feasible,’ without losing sight of the values of the family business.
PMC (Professional Monitor Company), a company nearing its 35th year in audio business, was founded by Peter Thomas and Adrian Loader. After untimely death of Adrian Loader in 1997 Peter Thomas had headed the board of directors until 2021 when the board was restructured. Jeff Willcocks, former Finance Director, was appointed as CEO, while Peter Thomas took the position of Chairman of the Board.
Two sons of the PMC 'founders, Oliver Thomas and Tom Loader have been involved in the company's operations (Tom Loader also became Peter Thomas's stepson after 1997). After a stint in automotive industry Oliver Thomas joined PMC in 2013 — first as an engineer, then as Head of product design and, since 2021, Commercial Director. Tom Loader started working at PMC in 2005, had positions in Operations and Parts Supply and for last four and a half years was an Operations Director overseeing production at PMC's factories, including new one in Bedfordshire.
Both Oliver (Ollie) and Tom have been a part of the senior management team and, more recently, the board of PMC for quite some time and have been involved in the business's strategic direction for several years, so it is no surprise that In 2025 they were appointed as co-CEOs of the company. New and young leadership team now will be responsible for setting PMC’s long-term strategies and objectives, as well as the overall direction for the organisation.
In a first press statement as new co-CEOs, Oliver and Tom pointed out that they will continue to carry the PMC values, designing and manufacturing products advancing PMC renowned standards in quality and global reputation. As well as having similar roles and responsibilities, internally they will directly manage different groups of people, in various departments, but all following the same common goals and targets.
“I am thrilled to be appointed co-CEO for PMC, taking on this exciting new challenge,” commented Ollie. “I look forward to bringing my knowledge of products and our markets to the role and driving PMC forward, building on its incredible reputation for innovation and customer service. The future vision is one incorporating sustainability and allowing our fantastic team of people to be ever more creative and successful in our pursuit of audio perfection.”
Tom remarked: “I really consider myself fortunate to get to go to work every day doing something I love and being part of something my family started. I feel responsible, honoured and motivated by this. Working at PMC or any small/medium-sized business is not always easy; if you ask any member of the team, they will agree it can be hard work some days, but they will also tell you how much they enjoy working here and how they genuinely care about what they do. Our goal is to continue our pursuit of perfection and have some fun doing it along the way. We are all passionate about what we do here and it is what I love most about being part of this team.”
