Five models strong, the new prophecy loudspeakers from PMC offer a glimpse of audio future, matching sophisticated proprietary technologies with new sustainable production flow.
Room-friendly design achieves amazing speaker size/performance ratio whilst carrying PMC’s signature sonic feats of lifelike dynamics, transparency and musicality.
Sharing new bold looks, PMC prophecy series comprise of prophecy1, two-way standmount, slimline two-way prophecy5 floorstander and three-way prophecy7 and flagship prophecy9, the latter with dual bass drivers. There is also a matching centre speaker for multichannel systems, the prophecyC.
A host of new technological achievements go hand in hand with new styling and compact size to achieve powerful bass. PMC’s staple bass reinforcement technique, Advanced Transmission Line (ATL), is augmented by new vent system, the LaminairX, which reduces air turbulence and associated distortion in the lowest frequencies. LaminairX aerodynamic vent is now integrated into a massive aluminium base of the cabinet, which adds structural stability to the speaker.
PMC’s holistic design approach considers every element, from the drive units, crossover components, ATL, LaminairX vent, wave-guides and cabinet, as an undivided part defining the complete product. Newly designed drive units take the best from PMC’s studio and domestic experience to achieve greater power handling and uniform in-room sound energy spread.
Commenting on the design of the new prophecy loudspeakers, Oliver Thomas, commercial director, said,
“One of the most challenging areas when developing a range of speakers is to maintain the sound character from one model to another. We have achieved this with each speaker in the range through our holistic approach and 30-plus years of experience in developing the world’s reference studio monitors. From the diminutive prophecy1 through to the flagship prophecy9, an identical tonal presentation is maintained across this range of speakers that appeals to the discerning music lover.”
The prophecy series also mark a new pathway to responsible manufacturing. Easily accommodated into most home interiors, natural veneer cabinet finishes (Walnut, Mediterranean Oak and Black) are a product from sustainable sources. New packaging is environmentally safe and is designed for recycling, with cardboard replacing polystyrene and cloth bags instead of plastic.
The magnetically attached grilles and their custom-engineered open-weave, acoustically clear fabric, complete the prophecy aesthetic.
The PMC prophecy loudspeaker range will be available globally from early February 2025.
