The ULTIMA 6 currently provides the most cost-effective entry point into our next-generation ULTIMA family of stereo power amplifiers. It builds upon the success of its award-winning predecessor, the SPM 1050 MK II, by incorporating our groundbreaking next-generation ULTIMA amplifier technology.
This new 180-watt model, featuring John Franks' innovative dual-feed-forward circuitry, delivers lightning-fast response and effortless power, resulting in astonishing dynamics and timing that set new standards for fidelity.
The development of our dual-feed-forward topology, which took 30 years to perfect, represents a significant breakthrough and marks the first entirely new circuit design from us in three decades. ULTIMA amplifiers have been meticulously engineered to meet the demands of the most exquisite hi-fi systems, representing the pinnacle of high-performance, ultra-fast, high-power amplifier technology available today.
The ULTIMA 6 boasts an impressive array of 16 proprietary MOSFET power devices, which necessitate the most advanced and refined drive circuitry. It features an ultra-low-distortion, high-voltage amplifier that operates at an astonishingly high speed of 300 volts per microsecond. Our TO3-style dual-die lateral-matched MOSFETs are under continuous monitoring with error-correction circuitry in the output stage. The amplifier also includes fully balanced input circuitry with DC-tracking servos and comprehensive temperature compensation.
While sharing the same genetic makeup as our flagship and reference-level monoblock amplifiers, the ULTIMA 6 offers greater practicality and affordability due to its distinct power output.
The amplifier is housed in our renowned aircraft-grade solid aluminum casing, providing a high-end and resonance-free enclosure for the electronics. The front panel has been redesigned with a 28-mm-thick fascia that reflects John Franks' latest aesthetic. An illuminated spherical polycarbonate power button discreetly indicates standby and operational modes, and a concealed front panel switch, located within the vertical split line, allows for adjustable lighting.
On the rear panel, you'll find both balanced and unbalanced connections, high-quality loudspeaker terminals, a 12 V trigger, and a C-19-type IEC connector.
