Jadis amplifier brand is acquired by French enterpreneur Jérémie Malfroot and will remain private.
André Calmettes, a self-taught valve amplifier designer, opened the Jadis factory near Carcassonne, France in 1983, together with his friend Jean-Paul Caffi. Jadis was well known for high end amplifiers with traditional schematics and point-to-point wiring and also produced its own output and power transformers.
André Calmettes retired about 15 years ago and Jadis Electronics SARL was operated by CEO Liliane Expert, long time employee of Jadis, while André’s sons, Patrick, and later Jean-Christophe, handled design and engineering. Their father passed away in January 2025.
In a short communiqué via LinkedIn the new CEO and owner Jérémie Malfroot stated:
‘Why this acquisition? My ambition is to elevate this heritage to the pinnacle of the global High-End Audio scene. Jadis is not just a Hi-Fi brand; it is an audiophile legacy that we must sublimate to meet today’s most demanding performance standards.
My vision for the future of Jadis will be built upon three strategic pillars:
Manufacturing Excellence: We will reinforce our artisanal craftsmanship by investing in exceptional components and rigorous selection processes to guarantee extraordinary reliability and musicality.
Sustainability & Technological Haute Couture: Moving beyond “eco-friendly,” we are committed to the extreme longevity of our equipment. Every Jadis product must remain a collector’s piece—upgradable and repairable—standing in radical opposition to obsolescence.
Innovation & High-End: Embracing new ways of experiencing music (high-resolution streaming, system integration) without ever compromising the analog signal integrity that defines our reputation.
Sound emotion remains our priority. I want to pay tribute to the incredible work accomplished by the historical teams. It is with this same passion for “The Great Sound” that we will bring Jadis to a new generation of discerning music lovers.’
M. Malfroot has a nearly quarter century experience in Sales and Management at the French office of Teufelberger Group, an international manufacturing corporation involved in industrial rope and strappings.
The production will remain at the original location. It’s in a village of Villedubert near Spanish border and very close to the medieval walled town of Carcassonne of board game fame. The name ‘Jadis’ itself refers to good old days of audio and can be translated into English as ‘of old’.
