Structurally, the Double X is a plinth-mounted turntable with a unified supporting chassis. The rectangular chassis, standing 64mm tall, is built using constrained layer damping technology, combining sheets of steel, MDF, and plywood to effectively minimise resonances and vibration transfer between components. The chassis rests on three threaded aluminium feet, which allow for precise height adjustment.
The balanced aluminium platter, measuring 50mm in height and weighing approximately 10.3kg, features a damping mastic coating on its underside. To enhance rotational inertia and suppress resonances, Acoustic Signature employs its innovative vibration-damping system, incorporating eight brass inserts positioned near the platter's outer edge. The turntable comes with a leather record mat, revealing the polished ends of the vibration dampers through its perforations.
The Double X includes an integrated AC motor with a single belt-driven mechanism. A precision electronic speed control unit is built into the chassis, ensuring accurate rotation adjustments. The external power supply connects to the turntable via a multi-core RJ45 cable, providing multiple stabilised voltage rails for optimal performance.
