Unveiled at NAMM 2026 in LA the new main monitors from PMC mark a milestone event in the more than 35 year history of the company, known for diligence in market longevity and competitiveness of its studio products. Considering that the range was last updated ten years one should expect the new development to bring substantial improvements both sonically and technically.
Knowing the PMC engineering team as one of the best in studio monitor business you could not lower the expectations. And wisely so, since designed from the ground up and made completely in-house, the all new Main Monitor Series from PMC, comprising initially four models (PMC10, PMC12, PMC15 and PMC10-4) bring a host of innovations in acoustic and electronic design as well as flexible DSP and installation options.
Each monitor speaker is a fully active 3-way full-range monitor for far-field studio use. New drive units designed and made by PMC advance the performance possible for low-distortion high-SPL studio loudspeaker. Bass section is based on large-gauge high excursion linear drivers loaded by advanced transmission line (ATL) tunnel and LaminairX mechanical turbulence braking structure. A new soft-dome midrange uses innovative rear-chamber absorption system and bi-profiled waveguide for even soundwave radiation into the studio room. Soft-dome extra-large 34mm tweeter matches the LF and MF drive units in outstanding overload headroom, low distortion linear sound propagation and natural room spread which is essential to avoid fatigue when working long hours in a mixing or mastering session.
PMC’s main monitors are powered and controlled through PMC’s latest DSP and amplifier external block, featuring updated SoundAlign2™ software environment and the new master36 system controller. In a compact 3U case the Master36 bears six Class D amplifiers for a total 3600 W of power alongside 32-bit digital crossover, input module and network connection for full remote web-interface.
There is a variety of scaling options, including XBD additional bass cabinets, additional 2000W power amps (power20) and other pathways to achieve precise integration in larger studio environments.
“Launching an entirely new main monitor family in our 35th anniversary year is both a celebration and a statement,” said PMC Co-CEO Oliver Thomas. “By rethinking every part of the system and designing the entire platform in-house, we’ve been able to create the next generation of main monitors with a new level of clarity, control and capability that reflect everything we’ve learned over the last 35 years.”
