Gold Note HP-5.2 headphone amplifier is a fresh addition to the new 20-cm-wide 5.2 series. Compact but powerful HP-5.2 combines unique styling and solid performance to elevate the music experience when listening to headphones at home.
Housed in a black anodised aluminium chassis for better shielding the Gold Note HP-5.2 exploits a proven design approach with dual mono amplification and pure Class A circuitry throughout. Internal power supply has more than enough current to drive any headphones.
The Gold Note HP-5.2 can handle a digital music source from USB-C input via ESS Sabre-based DAC and accepts analogue audio via balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs too. Analogue sound processing circuitry can enhance spatial experience with Crossfeed pre-set and also allows for headphone frequency response equalisation with Harman target curve. There is also user defined output impedance adjustment (damping factor) and top treble EQ for better match to connected headphones. Gain is user-adjustable as well and there are other convenient functions like L/R-balance or mono/stereo switch via remote control or touchscreen display on the front.
While powered from the mains the headphone amp is not short on wireless connectivity with bi-directional Bluetooth 5.2 aptX. This feature is a true extension of quality sound usually associated with wired connection. It allows to use mobile devices for streaming music wirelessly with additional benefits of ‘out-of-head-sound’ analogue processing features built in the HP-5.2.
Gold Note HP-5.2 usage cases start from minimalistic headphone audio systems but a handy bypass switch allows for quick integration without re-wiring in a complex pre-amp/power amp combinations.
An array of outputs on the front panel accepts 4 headphone connectors: unbalanced (3.5mm, 6.3mm) and balanced (4.4mm, XLR) . Using RCA/XLR line outputs in the rear the HP-5/2 can be configured as a pre-amp as well.
