Allow us to introduce Étude, a 150-watt Class AB stereo power amplifier that represents a groundbreaking departure from Chord Electronics’ traditional design philosophy since its inception in 1989. The Choral Étude amplifier has been meticulously crafted to harmonize with and fully unleash the potential of the multi-award-winning DAVE DAC, which also serves as a preamplifier. Its groundbreaking topology delivers even faster power delivery compared to previous designs, resulting in unparalleled dynamics, lifelike reproduction of transient details, and effortless control over loudspeaker drivers.
The Étude’s design is rooted in multi-feedback and dual feed-forward error-correction amplifier technology, which intelligently adjusts and compensates for the individual linearity of the 250-watt lateral structure high-power proprietary MOSFETs. Inside, you’ll find three dedicated high-frequency switch-mode power supply units—one for each active power rail and a final one for the auxiliary rails. When combined with advanced internal shielding, an actively cooled plenum chamber design, and custom Chord Electronics MOSFETs, Étude emerges as a world-class amplifier renowned for its exceptional speed and crystal-clear sound quality.
While the amplifier is conservatively rated at 150 watts into a 4-ohm load, it’s worth noting that when operated in bridged mono mode, Étude can deliver an impressive 300 watts into a 4-ohm load.
