Chord Company RumourX – Speaker Cable

The Chord RumourX is a high-performance, astonishingly discrete speaker cable engineered to deliver reference-quality audio without dominating your living space. A common dilemma in domestic high-fidelity is the conflict between acoustic performance and interior design; many audiophiles mistakenly believe that massively thick, visually intrusive cables are mandatory for deep bass and dynamic impact.

The Chord RumourX elegantly shatters this misconception through advanced materials science. At its core, it features silver-plated, oxygen-free copper conductors arranged in a highly precise twisted-pair geometry. This specific twisting architecture naturally rejects high-frequency noise and electromagnetic interference (EMI) without the added bulk of heavy foil shields. Crucially, the “X” signifies the implementation of Chord’s advanced XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) dielectric, which drastically outperforms traditional PTFE by eliminating phase-smearing and ensuring absolute timing accuracy. Finished in a minimalist 6mm white jacket, it is incredibly flexible and easily hidden along skirting boards or under carpets. Perfectly matched with high-resolution, room-friendly loudspeakers like the PMC twenty5.22i or Fyne Audio models, the RumourX proves that you don’t need “garden hose” cables to achieve explosive dynamics, crystalline vocal clarity, and a remarkably expansive holographic soundstage.
