The Chord Electronics Hugo TT2 (Table Top) is a reference-class desktop Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), headphone amplifier, and digital preamplifier. Radically re-engineered from its predecessor, it features a custom-coded Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA with an astonishing 98,304-tap WTA (Watts Transient Aligned) filter—delivering exactly double the processing power of the transportable Hugo 2.
This immense computational capability yields unprecedented micro-detail resolution, transient speed, and a massive holographic soundstage. The defining engineering triumph of the TT2 is its revolutionary power delivery system: it abandons traditional batteries in favor of six supercapacitors capable of delivering enormous, instantaneous dynamic peak currents. This allows the internal discrete amplifier stage to not only drive the world’s most demanding planar magnetic headphones with absolute ease but also directly drive highly efficient compact loudspeakers (delivering up to 18 watts per channel).

Delving deeper into its technological prowess, Hugo TT 2 employs a powerful Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA, custom-coded by Chord Electronics’ very own Rob Watts, with an astounding 86x 208MHz cores operating in parallel. This advanced FPGA enables the creation of a groundbreaking 16FS WTA 1 filter with an impressive 98,304-taps, surpassing the 49,152-tap capability of its acclaimed sibling, Hugo 2. Moreover, Hugo TT 2 features an upgraded 10-element design, perfectly synchronized with the enhanced FPGA and code, resulting in unparalleled audio reproduction.
To minimize distortion, Hugo TT 2 incorporates a brand-new high-power discreet output stage and integrates second-order noise-shaping between the DAC output and filter. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the power delivery system. Departing from the Li-Po battery power supply of its predecessor, Hugo TT 2 adopts six super capacitors capable of delivering massive linear dynamic currents when the music demands it, with a peak output of 5A and 9.3V RMS.
