Fyne Audio introduces S-Trax, 3D omnidirectional supertweeter

Imagine a spherical 3D soundfield which fills the listening room and covers the sound range well into ultrasound. No regular loudspeaker can do that. Fyne Audio from now on offers a cost-effective upgrade which opens the doors to the ultimate supertweeter experience — the omnidirectional S-Trax.

S-Trax covers the frequency range up to ultrasonic 50 kHz to enhance the sound of every musical instrument, including treble, bass and vocal, with this subtle addition of totally natural air and fluidity, the true fidelity of timbre, attack and decay.

S-trax is a continuation of Fyne Audio’s research & development first implemented in a flagship SuperTrax supertweeter, but has more universal applications (can be used outside of Fyne Audio Classic series ecosystem) and priced less. It still inherits very useful functions from its flagship cousin, such as cryogenic treatment of internal wiring for better and more stable conductivity, HF level control (±4.5 dB SPL) to adjust ultrasonic energy for room environment, and a grounding terminal for less RF-pickup.

S-trax uses a 25mm magnesium dome tweeter firing HF upwards at a tractrix shaped 360° diffuser. The tweeter is mounted in a solid aluminium enclosure and protected by a metal mesh grille. The shape of the diffuser is patented, since it achieves superior uniform dispersion at all frequencies (tractrix is a mathematically calculated expansion profile which is also used by Fyne Audio in BassTrax, its patented LF wave shaper for woofer back side radiation).

Fyne Audio S-trax can be used with any mechanically compatible speaker with efficiency up to 98 dB/W/m. It operates in 16k to 50k frequency range and adds realism, impact and natural feeling to music reproduction at home.

Installation is generally uncomplicated, and for Fyne Audio speakers precise positioning on top panel is available online and in user manual (respective of speaker model). In a recommended position acoustic centres of a given Fyne Audio speaker and its S-trax are aligned. If used with non-IsoFlare speakers general advice is to start on top panel closer to the front and adjusting from there using music tracks as a test material. Connecting cables are included.
