Not at all. Unlike many flagship planar magnetic headphones, the Elite boasts a highly efficient 32-ohm impedance and 101dB sensitivity. Whilst a premium desktop DAC and amplifier will certainly maximise their resolution and grip, they will still deliver an absolutely brilliant, full-bodied performance straight from a high-quality portable digital audio player (DAP).
It features the bespoke Isodynamic Hybrid Array, utilising an ultra-lightweight, acoustic Parus diaphragm. The clever dual-coil design separates the bass (switchback coil) and the mid/high frequencies (spiral coil), positioning the latter directly over the ear canal. This precise alignment results in flawless acoustic timing, staggering transparency, and pin-point stereo imaging.
The Elite comes with two sets of magnetically attached earpads to help you subtly tailor the presentation. The Alcantarapads deliver a wonderfully warm, intimate, and velvet-smooth midrange, whilst the Hybrid pads (Alcantara interior with a leather exterior) tighten up the bass response and offer a noticeably more airy, expansive soundstage.
