The Gold Note ES-78 is a premium Moving Magnet (MM) phono cartridge designed as the ultimate high-performance entry point into Italian analog audio. For new vinyl enthusiasts, the biggest hurdle is matching components: low-output cartridges require expensive phono stages, and extreme stylus profiles demand surgical alignment while amplifying surface noise on older records.
The ES-78 elegantly solves these real-world pain points. With a robust 4mV output level, it guarantees seamless, noise-free synergy with any standard MM phono preamplifier. Featuring a custom conical diamond stylus mounted on an ultra-rigid aluminum cantilever, it delivers incredibly stable groove tracking. This specific geometry is notoriously forgiving, effectively suppressing surface noise on vintage or less-than-perfect pressings without sacrificing high-frequency detail. Housed in a lightweight 6g chassis crafted from high-damping black POM (polyoxymethylene) equipped with Alnico magnets, it actively absorbs mechanical resonances at the headshell level.
Perfectly matched for Gold Note’s T-5 or Valore 425 Plus turntables, the ES-78 offers a genuine “fit-and-forget” audiophile experience, revealing the rhythmic drive and liquid warmth that define true high-fidelity analog playback.
